You will find an article that covers any topic regarding incarcerated women. Some topics could include incarcerated mothers, daycare programs in prison, women and mental health, educational programs for incarcerated women, etc. You will find one peer-reviewed journal articles relating to the topic of your choice and the articles must have been published within the last 8 years. You are not allowed to use any articles you have already been assigned for this course. The source of your material used should be from a professional journal in Sociology, Criminology, or Psychology (e.g., Social Problems; Criminology; Journal of Crime, Criminology, and Police Science; Social Forces, Crime and Delinquency, Justice Quarterly) or PsychInfo.
You will also use your book as a reference for this assignment. You will need to incorporate two in-text citations from the textbook in your assignment as well.
The length of the assignment should be 4-5 pages in length, not including title page and reference page, and should be ASA format. No abstract is needed. Turnitin percentage should be no more than 20%. Late assignment will be given a 0.
Provide the following information for the assignment:
- A description of the topic with an explanation of your interest in the particular component. (can be first person)
- Any personal experience or knowledge you have with the chosen topic. (can be first person)
- Information on what the book states about this topic. (third person) Two in-text citations needed here.
- How is the topic unique to women or different than men?
- What was the hypothesis or purpose of the article?
- What was the sample size? variables studied? Methodology (how did they collect their data)?
- What were the major findings? Conclusions?
- Could the results be generalizeable to male populations or do the article results only represent an issue with female inmates?
Numbers 1-4 should make up about 1 1/2 pages and numbers 4-7 should make up the rest of the assignment.
